Tonight I want to talk about how grateful I am for our healthcare system.
No, it’s not perfect, but it exists. I can see great doctors and get good care at a fairly reasonable price. Some people may have to work a little harder to get the kind of treatment they deserve, but it’s out there in some form for most. And that’s a lot better than many people around the world have it.
Tomorrow evening we’ll be meeting with a doula to find out if she’s right for us in our birth plans. I’m really excited to have someone like her along for such a crazy journey. There’s not very many things I can control about what happens when the baby decides she’s ready to come, not even who will deliver her, but it would be great to have someone there as a constant. Plus she’ll be supportive of our hopes and our process, and will have been through this before (unlike me or Brandon).
Of course, one of the big questions still out there is cost. But thankfully, we’ve been able to prepare for just about every other baby expense without too much stress, so hopefully this one will go smoothly too.
